daddy blackbird doesn't like starlings 2022.05.08

Background: I call the blackbird "daddy blackbird" because this male regularly takes care of a young blackbird.

This male is probably also the father of the nest that appeared in my shed in May 2022.

Blackbirds have a procedure where often the male tends to the current young outside of the nest while the female lays new eggs.

Starlings have only recently been seen at our bird house.

I guess "daddy blackbird" is afraid the newcomers will eat everything meant for his children.

That's probably why he tries to drive the starling away with wild flying maneuvers and direct threats. The starling is relatively unimpressed, however.

I have never seen any videos in our garden where a bird reacted so negatively to another animal and attacked it in this way.
